Hi there! My name is Sara, a translation
year-three student. Books and music are my life’s essentials. I like reading,
playing the piano and the flute. I was in an orchestra for six years. We gave
performances every year even in places outside Hong Kong like Taiwan and Macau.
Everyone think I am a quiet girl who does
not like outdoor activities. But I do not know nothing about sports. I like
swimming very much. I swim a lot every summer. Swimming calms me. It’s silent when
I’m under water. I like thinking when I’m swimming. It always clears my
negative thoughts and makes me feel positive.
This summer I worked as a lifeguard in the
United States, which really surprised my friends. They said I didn’t look like
the one who saves life because I didn’t look strong. They thought I should be
the one to be saved. I like challenges. I would never hang back if someone
thinks I cannot do it. Living for almost twenty years, I am always a quiet girl
in people’s eyes. Aren’t there any new impression of me? Therefore, I decided
to leave Hong Kong. I wanted to discover myself. I did something that I would
never do in Hong Kong -- to be a
lifeguard. I felt like I couldn’t describe how great it was when I first saved
a boy.
During that three months, I made a lot of friends,
experienced different cultures, understood more about myself, tried travelling
alone, and became tanned!
Mostly importantly, I learned to treasure. Treasure
every friend, every good and bad thing. They make you grow up and become your
wonderful memories.
It is once in a blue moon for you to be a lifeguard in USA. Your experience encourages me to grab the chance to work overseas :)
